Hey i think so too!! maybe thats why NUS is most expensive... so the ultimate profit evens out between the three unis... Like if NTU was supposed to be first, they've got to make it cheaper to increase the chances of kiasu and kiasee students who would chop seat first.... hmmm... cheaterbugs!!

whoops. :) jinyang.. how was law interview?

Thursday, April 29, 2004

the thing is, all of us will get letters from NUS sooner or later, it's just a matter of when. my dad thinks this is a ploy by NUS, NTU and SMU to cheat us of our money and deposit. oops. hahaha. how funny right?
forget it for now.. really.. the freaking nus admin is so super slow la.. just confirm the place first.. the letters of confirmation shld come by june..

Tuesday, April 27, 2004

heyz. i think i joining you too. kinda confirm too. cos till now haven't heard anything from nus. sigh
yo venus.. the indian guy was our interviwer as well la!! haha.. i had to listen very carefully what he was saying though, cuz he speaks very fast!! Haha.. i wonder if i had passed, but then.. i heading towards NTU! Confirm alr.. anyone joining me? =)

Sunday, April 25, 2004

tsk tsk.. these ministers talk so much to try to tell people that cracks are alright.. i mean they mean well.. but it's not their house that has a big fat crack next to the aircon... sigh... then agian, we don't want people panicking right? yeah. sorry i'm talkign to myself here.. :) just upset that circle line is going to take longer than usual... i was looking forward to it... : (
haha, sci(education) is an education degree at NIE lor.. thanks yah.. haha gonna scare the interviewer haha!
xinxin, good luck to you yeah? hee. this class blog is getting noisier by the minute. glad eileen can come in and make noise too. =)
wow, first person to get interviewed. not too bad sia. at least the interviewer is fesh and will be more interesting. anyway, gd luck to you xin xin. sci(edu) for which one? NTU or NUS?

Saturday, April 24, 2004

hey hey.. thanks yup.. gonna go for interview.. i'm told tht i'm the first person.. on mon.. haiz.. means i gonna skip sch for half a day.. which is super sick.. cuz i haven't finish teaching the chapter yet.. gonna make the students stay for extra lessons.. too bad.. hahaha.. eh, anyone of u applied for sci(education)? i got the letter from NIE asking me to go for the interview.. haha i rather become a PE teacher, but then hor.. haha been slacking too much alr
yupyup.. xinxin, i also think you should just go for the interview. anyway go does not mean must accept them and it is also good for you to have more interview experience. And i thought the chem engine course in nus sort of teaches different things then the chem engine course in ntu? Just choose the one that is more suited to your interests.

And eileen i think no need to read too much into nus's way of doing things. I mean who knows what nus will offer you right? you think so much only making yourself kanchiong for nothing.

Friday, April 23, 2004

wondering why i didn't get the chem engin thingy. cos jingwen also put as second choice. does it mean i have chances of getting into ISE or does it mean that i'm going common engin after all? haiz
hey xin xin, if you are really keen on the ntu offer then just accept them and heck nus. if you dun want to waste the 100 bucks. but you just go for the interview la, for exposure and open up your choices as well..
hm guess you gotta see which one are you more keen on i suppose..
now i'm genuinuely confused.. haiz... i wonder if i shld drop NUS' interview and accept NTU's offer.. haf to settle by 26th apr some more.. haiz...

Thursday, April 22, 2004

SMU is $300 lor.. accepted smu, awaiting NUS.. will prolly give up my NTU accountancy spot.. yeah.
yup ... i have accepted nus offer already. what about you venus? what are you accepting?

you know not fair... ntu only have to pay 100, nus have to pay 500.

Wednesday, April 21, 2004

eh.. must pay $100 non-refundable deposit when u confirm NTU's enrg.. so if u r really sure, den confirm, if not put on hold till 24th apr..
sijia, i think i will go for ntu chem engin la. haven't hear from nus.. still waiting i guess but i will just tell NTU that i will go for their chem engin. yup yup.
hi hi.. haven't blogging for a very long time... si jia you accepted offer already right?
hi people .... so eileen what have you decided? ntu or wait for nus?

sijia, good description! grin.
hi dears... today was fun :) here is a timetable of what we all did today.

12 plus:
meet eileen at orchard and attempt to go shopping. halfway, elsa and venus joined us. oh yes.. later we also met ruoling and nana.

2 plus:
stopped shopping and met xinxin, zhangqing, yanlian, dewen, wilbur, yuan and vivian(did i spell her name correctly?) We then all proceeded to crystal jade to eat and talk. Jinyang joined us halfway and wilbur left halfway. maybe they playing 'xiang4 zhuo2 zou3 xiang4 you4 zou3'

dunno what time later... basically afer crystal jade:
went to hmv and half of us went to eat cheesecake and the other half went shopping i think, not quite sure. oh yes, before hmv stopped by hello shop and nana configured her phone. and dewen also left halfway. (haha.. all the guys have to book in)

later at around 5 plus i think, maybe 6 plus:
half of them left for home and the rest of us went to see if there is any good movie to watch. At least that was our motive, in the end we ended up walking slowly up the building and lost venus and zhang qing to shopping. Hai... But then we met jingwen halfway and proceeded to see if got good movie to watch. Sadly, there was no movie...so we made yanlian go home coz she was sick, xinxin stayed with jingwen and nana, ruoling and me went to peace centre to buy a guitar for ruoling.

when we reached peace centre ( dunno what time ):
we found out that the guitar shop was closed :( and so as not to waste the bus fare to go there, we sat at peace centre and talked crap. Can you believe it, we actually were trying to make sam to come out to play bridge with us. too bad he could not, if not we could have played bridge that day.

After having sat enough (745 i think ... if i did not remember wrongly.):
we went to rochore (spelt correctly?) beancurd store and ate tau huey. dont believe we went to eat again after eating so much. hai....

then after tau huey (dunno what time again):
believe it or not, we then proceeded to ntuc to do grocery shopping.

after ntuc:
we then walked down from ntuc to simlim. dunno at what at what shopping centre, we sent to a korean supermarket and did more grocery shopping. From there,we went onwards through the bugis street shops ( is that what it is called? ) On the way i tell you can smell people cooking butter prawns ... so xiang ... but we decided not to eat it. so we went on and walk walk and ...hai... ended up at burger king.

at burger king ( think now 8 plus nine already)
we all ordered the new burger (the new cheese and italian sauce one, can you believe it? more eating ...hai....) and asked the person to cut it into three for us. And the preson cut it into 2 1/4s and a half. Now how on earth can we share it? So us being smart girls asked for a plastic knife and cut the half into 2 parts. Now we have 4 parts :) so we each ate a part and now we had one part left. Now we attempted to cut this mini part in three even more mini parts... haha.. that was a rather messy operation and we succeeded :) And the burger was nice... you all must try.

9 pm ( around there):
Now we finally decided to go home. And on the way home... we decided to post a timetable, here is the time table. And that ended our 'adventure' so to speak.

ruoling said she will download the pictures.. maybe we can see that later :) hope everyone enjoyed the class outing :)

hey jin yang, it's a great story.. really boost my morale!
yup, to all the relief teachers, all of us are being exploited one way or another.. even though i'm at my alma mater, the management has changed, i still love the sch n teachers, just tht i dislike the management.. yah.. so we shall push on together!! We are in this together! Haha, enjoy the week, esp. when fri is a holiday! =)

thanks jinyang, it brings a little light to a dim corridor many of us are walking in right now.. I guess despite the hard reality about politics in school, we still need idealistic stories like this to cheer us up a little, and hopefully balance out the unpleasantness in our lives.. ;)

i know what we'll do on the 8th! BIg-O!! :)
some of you may had read this b4... but i thought ill just put this up

to all those who aspire to be teachers or might turn out to be one in future
and also to those who already are experiencing the life of a teacher:

A Warm Tender Moment...

There is a story many years ago of an elementary teacher.. Her name was Mrs. Thompson. And as she stood in front of her 5th grade class on the very first day of school, she told the children a lie. Like most teachers, she looked at her students and said that she loved them all the same..

But that was impossible, because there in the front row, slumped in his seat, was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard.. Mrs. Thompson had watched Teddy the year before and noticed that he didn't play well with the other children, that his clothes were messy and that he constantly needed a bath.. And Teddy could be unpleasant. It got to the point where Mrs. Thompson would actually take delight in marking his papers with a broad red pen, making bold X's and then putting a big "F" at the top of his papers..

At the school where Mrs. Thompson taught, she was required to review each child's past records and she put Teddy's off until last. However, when she reviewed his file, she was in for a surprise..

Teddy's first grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is a bright child with a ready laugh. He does his work neatly and has good manners...he is a joy to be around."

His second grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is an excellent student, well liked by his classmates, but he is troubled because his mother has a terminal illness and life at home must be a struggle."

His third grade teacher wrote, "His mother's death has been hard on him. He tries to do his best but his father doesn't show much interest and his home life will soon affect him if some steps aren't taken."

Teddy's fourth grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is withdrawn and doesn't show much interest in school. He doesn't have many friends and sometimes sleeps in class."

By now, Mrs. Thompson realized the problem and she was ashamed of herself. She felt even worse when her students brought her Christmas presents, wrapped in beautiful ribbons and bright paper, except for Teddy's. His present which was clumsily wrapped in the heavy, brown paper that he got from a grocery bag..

Mrs. Thompson took pains to open it in the middle of the other presents. Some of the children started to laugh when she found a rhinestone bracelet with some of the stones missing, and a bottle that was one quarter full of perfume.. But she stifled the children's laughter when she exclaimed how pretty the bracelet was, putting it on, and dabbing some of the perfume on her wrist..

Teddy Stoddard stayed after school that day just long enough to say, "Mrs. Thompson, today you smelled just like my Mom used to." After the children left she cried for at least an hour. On that very day, she quit teaching reading, and writing, and arithmetic. Instead, she began to teach children..

Mrs. Thompson paid particular attention to Teddy. As she worked with him, his mind seemed to come alive. The more she encouraged him, the faster he responded. By the end of the year, Teddy had become one of the smartest children in the class and, despite her lie that she would love all the children the same, Teddy became one her "teacher's pets."

A year later, she found a note under her door, from Teddy, telling her that she was still the best teacher he ever had in his whole life. Six years went by before she got another note from Teddy. He then wrote that he had finished high school, third in his class, and she was still the best teacher he ever had in his whole life..

Four years after that, she got another letter, saying that while things had been tough at times, he'd stayed in school, had stuck with it, and would soon graduate from college with the highest of honors. He assured Mrs. Thompson that she was still the best and favorite teacher he ever had in his whole life..

Then four more years passed and yet another letter came.. This time he explained that after he got his bachelor's degree, he decided to go a little further. The letter explained that she was still the best and favorite teacher he ever had. But now his name was a little longer -- the letter was signed, Theodore F. Stoddard, M.D..

The story doesn't end there. You see, there was yet another letter that spring. Teddy said he'd met this girl and was going to be married. He explained that his father had died a couple of years ago and he was wondering if Mrs. Thompson might agree to sit in the place at the wedding that was usually reserved for the mother of the groom. Of course, Mrs. Thompson did. And guess what? She wore that bracelet, the one with several rhinestones missing. And she made sure she was wearing the perfume that Teddy remembered his mother wearing on their last Christmas together..

They hugged each, and Dr. Stoddard whispered in Mrs. Thompson's ear, "Thank you Mrs. Thompson for believing in me. Thank you so much for making me feel important and showing me that I could make a difference."

Mrs. Thompson, with tears in her eyes, whispered back. She said, "Teddy, you have it all wrong. You were the one who taught me that I could make a difference. I didn't know how to teach until I met you."

...sometimes you dont see the point in puting in any effort, esp when the staff and the students dont appreciate you anyway. however, you never know when you can make a difference to someone out there.

to all the teachers who kept the faith and continued to make a difference in the lives of their students:
thank you!

i thought eileen that time said that she does not have invite to class blog? oh well... maybe i remember wrongly. Oh yes and speaking of invites, can someone send yanlian an invite to class blog? i dunno how to send.

so we confirm meeting at 630 at orch mrt at 8th right? yeah :) then see you all there then. what will we be doing? i may be abit late coz i end work at 6. but i will try to leave early.

you mean wenyi wont be in school? then what about her lessons? this year her A level year what ..... but then like what nana said... it is her life. maybe she is a very smart girl who does not need to study much to get good grades.
wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
did i mention this before? so happy to see the class blog so vibrant suddenly. and of course all thanks to the guys who remembered the existence of such a place even after their BMT. grin. and of course to the regulars. like sijia, ruoling and xinxin. whatever happened to venus i do not know. and i wonder, since eileen has a blog now, why aint she blogging too. grin.

anyway. i dunno what time my meeting will end.. whine. let's go eat the big O. i want the choc mudpie.... oops. grin. prolly join you guys at ard 7plus 8 i suppose.. i think. cos that's my first meeting for my post camp project mah. ooh i'm invited to be in the comn, that's why i have my first meeting on that day. grin. happy triple boing. grin.

uh jinyang, no point setting up OP by class bench cos wenyi wont be there. she'd be somewhere in mediacorp preparing and practicing.. just watch ms singapore universe on saturday night. tho i STILL maintain my stand that they seriously behaved like bimbos in the prelude and trust me, this is not sour grapes. heh. wonder what the heck is wenyi doing la, with Alevels coming at the end of the year. but then again, it's her life, not mine. heh.

hey guys, do tell us where you guys get posted yeah? and dewen, your jokes are as lame as ever. seriously. but i gotta admit, i do miss your lame jokes. grin. and somehow dewen sounds different. maybe NS really did change him. hahahaha..
Hmm... you are really really lucky Dewen. In the past they used to force people to recourse BMT if they failed their ippt. Imagine doing SOC, BCCT (Basic Close Combat Training), parade rehearsals, field camp and sit. (situational) test all over again! (Esp eating at the cook house... they dont give you enough food and you wonder why everything they serve looks the same day in day out). Luckily the system has changed and people need only to meet the sufficient attendance for all the lessons. Oh did you pass your SOC?

Dance classes... haha.... ya actually i dont think i can afford the time since i'd prob only get my saturdays and sundays free. need lots of sleep and time to recover from training too! Been slacking this week... i'd better go and run when i wake up later today (0117 now) opps... its way past lights out. lol.... i'd bet the COS will prob come up and ask me to carry on 20 ;P... or ask me to go run 10 rounds around the track.

haha... she's really from our junior class? how come i dont remember seeing her b4? haha... i suddenly feel like poping by hc. dewen... lets set up an O.P.(observation post) by the class bench k ^_^

lots of people enlisting these few days... including our very own wilbur! hey enjoy yourself there... remember what not to bring in there (pork) and never... never... never... loose your rifle. Say hi to my segts. for me if you happen to get posted to scorpion. dont bend over to pick up your soap... dont sign out of the box... dont loose your 11B and always salute everybody above the rank of let!

outing on the 8th? hmm... try to make it... depends if im still waiting to book out or if im out defending my country from robbers who happen to get lost!
la la la la la... 4 more days to book in day.
