Hey i think so too!! maybe thats why NUS is most expensive... so the ultimate profit evens out between the three unis... Like if NTU was supposed to be first, they've got to make it cheaper to increase the chances of kiasu and kiasee students who would chop seat first.... hmmm... cheaterbugs!!

Forever Never Ends
by Becky Rattray

F riends 'til the end, is what was once spoken,
O r is that just what you wanted to say?
R eally, I'd be heart broken
E veryday, I thank God for you in every way
V ery often do I forget to say, "I love you,"
E ven when I don't feel like it
R emember me when you're scared and remember I care about you too!

N ever take anything for granted,
E ven if there was a fight or two.
V ery Lucky am I, to have you as my best friend.
E veryday I think about you,
R emembering we're gonna be forever friends!

E ven if we're both scared,
N ever will I say Good- Bye.
D idn't I always say, "Forever Never Ends?"
S o, please believe me when I say, "Forever Friends."

thanks jinyang, it brings a little light to a dim corridor many of us are walking in right now.. I guess despite the hard reality about politics in school, we still need idealistic stories like this to cheer us up a little, and hopefully balance out the unpleasantness in our lives.. ;)

i know what we'll do on the 8th! BIg-O!! :)
some of you may had read this b4... but i thought ill just put this up

to all those who aspire to be teachers or might turn out to be one in future
and also to those who already are experiencing the life of a teacher:

A Warm Tender Moment...

There is a story many years ago of an elementary teacher.. Her name was Mrs. Thompson. And as she stood in front of her 5th grade class on the very first day of school, she told the children a lie. Like most teachers, she looked at her students and said that she loved them all the same..

But that was impossible, because there in the front row, slumped in his seat, was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard.. Mrs. Thompson had watched Teddy the year before and noticed that he didn't play well with the other children, that his clothes were messy and that he constantly needed a bath.. And Teddy could be unpleasant. It got to the point where Mrs. Thompson would actually take delight in marking his papers with a broad red pen, making bold X's and then putting a big "F" at the top of his papers..

At the school where Mrs. Thompson taught, she was required to review each child's past records and she put Teddy's off until last. However, when she reviewed his file, she was in for a surprise..

Teddy's first grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is a bright child with a ready laugh. He does his work neatly and has good manners...he is a joy to be around."

His second grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is an excellent student, well liked by his classmates, but he is troubled because his mother has a terminal illness and life at home must be a struggle."

His third grade teacher wrote, "His mother's death has been hard on him. He tries to do his best but his father doesn't show much interest and his home life will soon affect him if some steps aren't taken."

Teddy's fourth grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is withdrawn and doesn't show much interest in school. He doesn't have many friends and sometimes sleeps in class."

By now, Mrs. Thompson realized the problem and she was ashamed of herself. She felt even worse when her students brought her Christmas presents, wrapped in beautiful ribbons and bright paper, except for Teddy's. His present which was clumsily wrapped in the heavy, brown paper that he got from a grocery bag..

Mrs. Thompson took pains to open it in the middle of the other presents. Some of the children started to laugh when she found a rhinestone bracelet with some of the stones missing, and a bottle that was one quarter full of perfume.. But she stifled the children's laughter when she exclaimed how pretty the bracelet was, putting it on, and dabbing some of the perfume on her wrist..

Teddy Stoddard stayed after school that day just long enough to say, "Mrs. Thompson, today you smelled just like my Mom used to." After the children left she cried for at least an hour. On that very day, she quit teaching reading, and writing, and arithmetic. Instead, she began to teach children..

Mrs. Thompson paid particular attention to Teddy. As she worked with him, his mind seemed to come alive. The more she encouraged him, the faster he responded. By the end of the year, Teddy had become one of the smartest children in the class and, despite her lie that she would love all the children the same, Teddy became one her "teacher's pets."

A year later, she found a note under her door, from Teddy, telling her that she was still the best teacher he ever had in his whole life. Six years went by before she got another note from Teddy. He then wrote that he had finished high school, third in his class, and she was still the best teacher he ever had in his whole life..

Four years after that, she got another letter, saying that while things had been tough at times, he'd stayed in school, had stuck with it, and would soon graduate from college with the highest of honors. He assured Mrs. Thompson that she was still the best and favorite teacher he ever had in his whole life..

Then four more years passed and yet another letter came.. This time he explained that after he got his bachelor's degree, he decided to go a little further. The letter explained that she was still the best and favorite teacher he ever had. But now his name was a little longer -- the letter was signed, Theodore F. Stoddard, M.D..

The story doesn't end there. You see, there was yet another letter that spring. Teddy said he'd met this girl and was going to be married. He explained that his father had died a couple of years ago and he was wondering if Mrs. Thompson might agree to sit in the place at the wedding that was usually reserved for the mother of the groom. Of course, Mrs. Thompson did. And guess what? She wore that bracelet, the one with several rhinestones missing. And she made sure she was wearing the perfume that Teddy remembered his mother wearing on their last Christmas together..

They hugged each, and Dr. Stoddard whispered in Mrs. Thompson's ear, "Thank you Mrs. Thompson for believing in me. Thank you so much for making me feel important and showing me that I could make a difference."

Mrs. Thompson, with tears in her eyes, whispered back. She said, "Teddy, you have it all wrong. You were the one who taught me that I could make a difference. I didn't know how to teach until I met you."

...sometimes you dont see the point in puting in any effort, esp when the staff and the students dont appreciate you anyway. however, you never know when you can make a difference to someone out there.

to all the teachers who kept the faith and continued to make a difference in the lives of their students:
thank you!

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
did i mention this before? so happy to see the class blog so vibrant suddenly. and of course all thanks to the guys who remembered the existence of such a place even after their BMT. grin. and of course to the regulars. like sijia, ruoling and xinxin. whatever happened to venus i do not know. and i wonder, since eileen has a blog now, why aint she blogging too. grin.

anyway. i dunno what time my meeting will end.. whine. let's go eat the big O. i want the choc mudpie.... oops. grin. prolly join you guys at ard 7plus 8 i suppose.. i think. cos that's my first meeting for my post camp project mah. ooh i'm invited to be in the comn, that's why i have my first meeting on that day. grin. happy triple boing. grin.

uh jinyang, no point setting up OP by class bench cos wenyi wont be there. she'd be somewhere in mediacorp preparing and practicing.. just watch ms singapore universe on saturday night. tho i STILL maintain my stand that they seriously behaved like bimbos in the prelude and trust me, this is not sour grapes. heh. wonder what the heck is wenyi doing la, with Alevels coming at the end of the year. but then again, it's her life, not mine. heh.

hey guys, do tell us where you guys get posted yeah? and dewen, your jokes are as lame as ever. seriously. but i gotta admit, i do miss your lame jokes. grin. and somehow dewen sounds different. maybe NS really did change him. hahahaha..
Hmm... you are really really lucky Dewen. In the past they used to force people to recourse BMT if they failed their ippt. Imagine doing SOC, BCCT (Basic Close Combat Training), parade rehearsals, field camp and sit. (situational) test all over again! (Esp eating at the cook house... they dont give you enough food and you wonder why everything they serve looks the same day in day out). Luckily the system has changed and people need only to meet the sufficient attendance for all the lessons. Oh did you pass your SOC?

Dance classes... haha.... ya actually i dont think i can afford the time since i'd prob only get my saturdays and sundays free. need lots of sleep and time to recover from training too! Been slacking this week... i'd better go and run when i wake up later today (0117 now) opps... its way past lights out. lol.... i'd bet the COS will prob come up and ask me to carry on 20 ;P... or ask me to go run 10 rounds around the track.

haha... she's really from our junior class? how come i dont remember seeing her b4? haha... i suddenly feel like poping by hc. dewen... lets set up an O.P.(observation post) by the class bench k ^_^

lots of people enlisting these few days... including our very own wilbur! hey enjoy yourself there... remember what not to bring in there (pork) and never... never... never... loose your rifle. Say hi to my segts. for me if you happen to get posted to scorpion. dont bend over to pick up your soap... dont sign out of the box... dont loose your 11B and always salute everybody above the rank of let!

outing on the 8th? hmm... try to make it... depends if im still waiting to book out or if im out defending my country from robbers who happen to get lost!
la la la la la... 4 more days to book in day.
